WHEN MOLLIE VANDEVENDER WAS LOOKING TO HIRE A DESIGNER FOR HER GEORGIAN-STYLE manor house in Jackson, Mississippi, she narrowed the list of candidates down, to those who liked fried chicken, okra, and cornbread. "I'm from the South, she explains," and it was important to me to find a decorator who is also Southern." She settled on Alabama-born, New York-based Richard Keith Langham. "Keith appreciates the importance people here place on family, and that we Southerners don't take our homes lightly. Also, as everyone knows, we talk differently. I needed someone who could understand me!"
