Bloom Back on Newfoundland's Offshore White Rose Oil Field, Plans to Use FPSO
The bloom is back on the rose. Despite pessimism generated last month by the shelving of the Hebron-Ben Nevis project off eastern Canada (OD Feb.14,p1) and Exxon Mobil's reported intention to unload exploration leases in the area, Petro- Canada and operator Husky Energy said last week they had agreed to co-develop the offshore Newfoundland White Rose oil field.
White Rose was probably never really in as serious jeopardy as Hebron. Although reservoir characteristics are an issue, they are nowhere near as daunting as at Hebron, and crude quality is not an issue at White Rose. ...
