Article: Texas Exports Increase More Than 20 Percent; Exports Climb to Record $112 Billion in 2000.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas exports climbed to a record $112 billion in 2000, a 23.5 percent increase from 1999. This represents a $21.3 billion increase over 1999. Texas has not seen an increase this large since Texas Economic Development first began reporting exports in 1987.

"Texas was able to maintain its position as the second largest exporting state in the country because companies expanding into global markets have had a direct impact on this phenomenal growth of exports," said Texas Economic Development Executive Director Jeff Moseley.
