CHICAGO -- Don't miss a rare and historic opportunity to meet and listen to John Brown, Jr., one of only five surviving original Navajo Code Talkers, on May 23, 2002, at 7 p.m. at the American Indian Center, 1630 W. Wilson Avenue.
Brown, now 81 years old and living on the Navajo Nation reservation in Crystal, New Mexico, was among the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers during World War II (First Marine Platoon/1942). Only five of those original Navajo Code Talkers are still alive today. Brown will be joined for this special program by his wife and son, and Japanese-American photographer Kenji Kawano. Students from Robert Morris College also will attend.
