RESTON, Va. -- President George W. Bush has appointed Michele Ridge to the board of directors of the Student Loan Marketing Association (SLMA), the wholly owned government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) subsidiary of USA Education, Inc., commonly known as Sallie Mae. SLMA's congressional charter provides that the board consists of seven presidential appointees and fourteen elected directors; the president of the United States designates the chairman.
Ridge currently serves as Director, Strategic Development for Community Prevention Planning, for The Channing Bete Company. Ridge previously served as the director of the Erie County Library System from 1979 to 1995. ...
