SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The Richard I. Bong WWII Heritage Center, a museum opening in fall 2002 to honor World War II participants both at home and on the front lines, announced today that the Minnesota Chapter of the 8th Air Force Historical Society will make a gift of World War II artifacts to create the new museum's exhibit on the 8th Air Force. On Wednesday, May 15, the 8th Air Force group will turn their weekly meeting (at the American Legion Club at 9320 Lyndale Ave. S.) into a special WWII memorabilia collection event, presenting artifacts saved by its members for six decades to the museum's curator and other representatives.
