May 16--The Elephant Butte Irrigation District is eliminating its dispatch graveyard shift, but the change will not reduce water order service, hydrologist James Narvaez said.
The change of hours means that the office will have only two shifts of dispatchers to take water orders from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Previously, the office had three shifts and was open for 24 hours, Narvaez said.
The irrigation district plans to start the new hours in about a week. When farmers call in from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., the former grave yard shift hours, ...
