Anaheim Public Utilities (APU) recently announced it will conduct field tests on 14 solar-powered golf carts at two local golf courses in Anaheim, CA. The utility said the golf carts feature SunCaddy roofs manufactured by Berkeley, CA-based PowerLight Corporation that convert solar energy into direct current (DC) energy that is stored in a DC battery.

APU said it replaced the golf carts' plastic overhead tops with the SunCaddy roofs and then connected the leads to the golf carts' battery packs. The utility said total installation time was 30 minutes.
