LYNNHAVEN - When Beth Lybarger injured her back and could no longer work as a telecommunications technician, she needed a new vocation and training.
After surgery requiring spinal fusion, Lybarger, 43, was referred by the Department of Rehabilitative Services to Goodwill Industries of Hampton Roads. Since her workers' compensation would pay for her to take a Goodwill computer-training course at a rate far less than most competitors, she signed up. Lybarger did so well that Goodwill hired her to work at its Career Resource Center in Norfolk.
