On Tuesday night, the Virginia Beach City Council narrowly approved a revised contract for the controversial 31st Street luxury hotel project.
Before the vote, outgoing Councilman William W. Harrison Jr., a longtime supporter of the project, responded to key objections. The following is an excerpt:
T he 31st Street project is a project in the public interest. No thoughtful analysis has or can come to any other conclusion. Yet there are objections. Let's take them one by one.
