AIRDRIE are sitting on Death Row and praying for a pardon when Scottish League chiefs decide who gets the membership the Diamonds lost last month.

Friday sees the closing date for applications to join the league and the beginning of a nail-biting month-long wait while each club is assessed.

Huntly, Whitehill Welfare, Gretna, Gala Fairydean and Preston Athletic are among the clubs expected to challenge for the place in Division Three.
