I HAD heard such good reports about Cyprus and the friendliness of its people that it seemed the obvious place for a break after a hectic spell of theatre work.
And you may well think it was appropriate that I chose to head for Paphos, the centre for worship of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
It was here, according to ancient Greek legend, that the daughter of Zeus first set foot on land after her birth among the waves.
