Restaurants are subject to all sorts of changing winds: Neighborhoods go up or down, food trends go in or out, the economy strengthens or weakens, and so on. Many seem to have a natural lifespan of about 10 years (frequently shorter). Hence, the Pleasant Cafe, in business at the same location for 55 years, is about 1,000 years old in restaurant years - an impressive achievement. We aren't in a position to say how this place has evolved over the years, but we can see what makes it viable today: homey surroundings, tasty food and low prices.
