DETROIT -- Producers from fourteen theater companies have joined forces to mount a new production of West Side Story, one of theater's greatest treasures. The haunting and timeless tragedy of two lovers torn apart by violence and discrimination will captivate Detroit audiences September 3-8, at the Fox Theatre.
West Side Story showcases the extraordinary talents of some of the theater's greatest geniuses, including Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents, who have received rave reviews for its gritty and unflinching portrayal of gang life in the slums of New York City in the 1950's.
