NEW YORK-Obeetee Inc., long known as an Indian rug supplier, will introduce its first line of rugs from Pakistan in January.
The move reflects the new leadership of Bill Ward, chief executive officer, who joined the company in December after seven years at ABC Carpet & Home, most recently as vice president.
"My strategy is to bring Obeetee to other countries, including Pakistan," he said. A frequent traveler to the country, Ward said that in 15 years, Pakistan "has gone from being a marginal producer to one of the most beautiful, competent" rug-making countries.
