In Canada, the nationwide project for Government OnLine (GOL) is using information technology and electronic service delivery to make access to government more efficient and convenient. To Health Canada, whose responsibility is to develop health policy, enforce regulations and promote disease prevention for Canadians, this means a mandate of having 50 percent of core services accessible through the Internet by the end of 2002, and 100 percent accessible by the end of 2004.
