Drum-buffer-rope (DBR) is the production application of the theory of constraints (TOC). DBR has been implemented in many different industries, and its use seems to be increasing. The results reported sound surprising but are not well documented or disseminated. We knew of some implementations of DBR in Brazil but not the magnitude of the results. We decided to try to measure them and with the financial support of the "Nucleo de Pesquisas e Publicacoes," an internal agency of Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Sao Paulo, we began our research [2]. Seven companies that have implemented DBR were the subjects; this article presents the results.
