Sacramento was the NBA's deepest outpost. The Gulag of the league. Such a perennial loser, in Mitch Richmond's seven years here, not once did he know a winning season.

The Kings were the only show in town and Richmond their lone star. There was no major-league baseball, no NHL, no NFL, no major college program.
