GLOBAL WHALING BAN
NOORDWIJK, Netherlands, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. commissioner to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) intervened at a crucial moment yesterday to preserve the global ban on whaling, according to the World Wildlife Fund/The Conservation Foundation (WWF).
Because of the U.S. action, a majority of IWC member nations voted not to consider Iceland's bid to set a catch quota for minke whales.
