Back off, Eugene.
That's the message a dozen River Road and Santa Clara residents delivered at a public hearing on urban services held in the North Eugene High School cafeteria on Thursday night.
Over and over again, they stood at the microphone and said: "We don't want to be annexed."
Curiously, annexation wasn't on the official agenda at Thursday night's meeting. The gathering was sponsored by the River Road and Santa Clara urban services committees, a group of 16 area residents convened by Lane County and Eugene to help sort out the tangled way residents get the normal services their taxes pay ...
