Alberta Hurts Kyoto Chances
The energy-rich province of Alberta damaged Canada's chances of ratifying the Kyoto protocol on climate change on Tuesday by announcing it would no longer formally discuss the topic with Ottawa.
The federal government, already under pressure from Alberta and powerful energy producers to walk away from the treaty, has launched formal consultations with the country's 10 provinces to see how Kyoto could be implemented.
