A big top tent and polka music.
It must be the start of summer in Wisconsin.
New Glarus rolls out the dance floor this weekend for its Polkafest, held in the Village Park. Dancing and entertainment by polka bands will get hopping from 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. (Call 800-527-6838 for more information; see schedule below.)
Sadly, though, one New Glarus polka music staple, Roger Bright, will be missed this year. Bright died last year after suffering a heart attack while doing what he loved -- performing at a polka festival. But in his honor, America's Little Switzerland has named its festival ...
