King County buses and Sound Transit light rail would be roommates in the downtown bus tunnel, sharing use and expenses under a new proposed plan unveiled yesterday.
The County Council's Transportation Committee got its first detailed look at the proposal, which would replace a previous agreement to transfer tunnel ownership to Sound Transit strictly for light rail use.
Under the new arrangement, the county and Sound Transit would share the costs of tunnel debt, as well as operations and maintenance, based on their use.
