An avalanche of free jazz performances is coming this summer to Syracuse.
The Delfeayo Marsalis Sextet closes the Jazz in the City concert series with a performance Aug. 22 on South Avenue in front of Spirit of Jubilee Park. Marsalis, 37, is a trombonist and a member of the famed Marsalis jazz family, which includes pianist Ellis and trumpeter Wynton.
Also, Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval (July 25) and clarinetist Eddie Daniels (July 26) will perform in the inaugural Jazz in the Square Festival at Clinton Square. Saxophonist Joe Carello and trumpeter Jeff Jarvis will join the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra for a ...
