COLUMBUS, Ga. _ Bobby Furman first feels the energy in his fingertips. The tingling sensation then surges throughout his body until he reaches a euphoric state.

It is all the result of t'ai chi.

"Of all the exercises I've tried _ and that's plenty _ nothing has had the calming, relaxing effect for me that t'ai chi has," said Furman.

Furman, a 52-year-old research chemist, has been practicing t'ai chi for three years now.

"It takes time to get the energy flow I get, but from the early stages, you do begin to feel the health benefits," he said.
