People who have cruised the Great Lakes make up a pretty select club. Even with the geometric growth of lakes cruising in recent years, the numbers are still small.
This coming season will be the biggest in recent times. Seven ships, including two that are new to the lakes, will do 70 sailings and carry 6,000 passengers, says Christopher Wright, secretary of Cruising the Great Lakes, which promotes cruising the lakes.
The newest ships will be the Grande Mariner and the Grande Caribe, both 100-passenger vessels of the American Canadian Caribbean Line of Warren, R.I.
