Plans for the UAE's first build-operate-transfer (BOT) wastewater project passed a key milestone on 1 May, when the Ajman ruler, Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid al-Nuaimi, enacted the emirate's first sewerage law. The enactment clears the way for the new utility company, Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company, to begin registering properties to be connected to the $140 million wastewater network (Water, MEED Special Report, 25:1:02, pages 25-26).
