The Association of Train Operating Companies has awarded a 17-year contract worth [pounds sterling]80 million to SchlumbergerSema to design, build, and operate a computerised ticket sales information and settlement system. The system will handle and allocate the revenue earned by all of Britain's passenger train operators. Currently, there are 27 train operating companies with a total annual revenue of more than [pounds sterling]3.5 billion. The new system is due to be introduced from April 1 2003.
