England's first French fry vending machine has been installed at a railway station in Cambridge, the result of a marketing deal between Canadian potato giant McCain Foods Ltd. and MONO Equipment, a bakery equipment supplier and maker of the FastFry vending system, reported National Post Online (Mar. 27).
In about 45 seconds, MONO's new FastFry machine heats frozen Mc'Cain shoestring fries using a convection-heated air system, eradicating the need for hot oil, and dispenses them in a paper cup with an optional serving of salt, vinegar or ketchup, at a cost to the consumer of about $3.
