An evil Dennis Hopper torments Isabella Rossellini in David Lynch's erotic thriller, "Blue Velvet."
Interviewing David Lynch at a film festival last fall, I made the mistake of telling him how happy I was that "Blue Velvet," his finest film, had been released on DVD.
"Oh, that's terrible, just terrible," Lynch shot back, something like actual anger in his eyes. "They put that together without my permission. It just came out awful. I'm making them redo the whole thing."
Nine months later comes "Blue Velvet: Special Edition" (MGM Home Entertainment, $24.95), with Lynch's stamp of approval. "New digital transfer supervised by David Lynch," it says ...
