Toiling in relative obscurity, Ohio State University inaugurated its Accounting Hall of Fame in 1950 "for the purpose of honoring accountants who have made or are making significant contributions to the advancement of accounting since the beginning of the 20th century." Each inductee is honored with a photograph and a bio on the site. Early inductees include accounting firm founder Arthur Andersen and Civil War hero and founder of the first accounting program at New York University, Charles Ezra Sprague.
