Two recent events have brought home to me the reality of how much Canada has changed over the last 10 years: the results of the 2001 census that was released by Statistics Canada, and the death of Dalton Camp.
The census reveals a Canada that is becoming much more urbanized, with an aging population, a declining birth rate and a growing dependence on immigration. While our population growth rate is one of the lowest in the world, our major cities are growing faster than ever before.
