There are many reasons for this, including the cost of constructing the BI solutions, complexity of operating them in conjunction with real-time transactional applications, and the relative priority of investing in an application to run your business immediately versus building a solution that will support better decision making in the future. In a contest for resources, the immediate urgency wins every time. The result of this is the unfortunate reality that BI solutions tend to get neglected on project priority lists.
