Jun. 6--The once high-flying CEO of Tyco, indicted this week for sales tax evasion, has built a cottage industry out of avoiding taxes -- in one instance even helping fund a campaign to squelch the proposed creation of a New Hampshire income tax system meant to aid public schools.
For years, Dennis Kozlowski has systematically avoided as much U.S. taxation as possible -- choosing to live in New Hampshire, one of nine states with no income tax, and orchestrating a complex acquisition that allowed him to move Tyco's legal base to a Caribbean tax haven.
