Jun. 6--In her years as proprietor of the Parting Glass pub, Joan Desadora has gotten the chance to meet hundreds of people in the horse racing world. Eventually, she decided she wanted to become a horse owner.
In 1998, she bought a thoroughbred -- that is, a $25,000 share of one. And then a share of another.
