The 2002 Pritzker Architecture Prize, a $100,000 award given by the Hyatt Foundation, was recently presented to Australian Glenn Murcutt. Little known outside the architecture world, Murcutt, who is also a farmer, specializes in green, or ecologically sustainable, architecture, which attempts to diminish a building's impact on the environment. In selecting Murcutt, the Pritzker jury has broken with its tradition of choosing well-known architects who have executed major commissions.
