THE usual habitat of the European yellow-tailed scorpion is a hole in a Mediterranean wall, with plenty of flies to eat.

But suburban GP Dr Patrick McDaid found a frightening exception to the rule.

He was putting on a pair of jeans at his North London home when he discovered that one of the two inch creatures had already taken up residence there.

'I felt something cold against my skin, and I just thought it might be a coin or something,' said Dr McDaid, 36, from Muswell Hill.

'When I saw it was a big creepy crawly, that was when the expletives started!
