DEFOREST -- Feeding and herding thousands of people who attended Saturday's Dane County Breakfast on the Farm was no problem for the Meinholz family.
After all, they feed, herd and milk 850 cows every day on their farm, Blue Star Dairy, on Patton Road in the town of Vienna.
They have another 450 cows on a farm they own northwest of Middleton. They operate a total of 3,400 acres with corn, alfalfa, soybeans and wheat.
The Meinholz farms produce more than 25 million pounds of milk a year. But they're still family farms that support three generations in a family that has had most members stay ...
