WALNUT CREEK, Calif. _ Gov. Gray Davis unveiled his first attack ad Monday in his battle against GOP businessman Bill Simon Jr., faulting Simon for his involvement with a failed savings and loan.
The 30-second television spot, titled "Mistakes," heats up the rhetoric in the gubernatorial race with the election still five months away.
It also puts pressure on Simon to take to the airwaves himself, either to respond to Davis' accusations or take his own shots against the governor, said Joe Tuman, a political speech professor at San Francisco State University.
