Jun. 8--Hugo and Dorothy Magnuson opened their first store in 1939, and the Hugo's grocery chain continues to evolve today, said president Curt Magnuson.
The most obvious change the supermarket chain has been through is its growth from one to eight locations. Hugo's currently has four stores in Grand Forks, and one store each in East Grand Forks, Crookston, Thief River Falls and Jamestown, N.D.
