I don't remember much about my first trip to Milwaukee County Stadium, but I do recall the Cubs played the Braves that Saturday afternoon.
It was the mid-1960s, and I was about 5 or 6. I returned to Milwaukee County many times after the Braves moved south to Atlanta and the Brewers moved in. But as a kid in northern Illinois, I cut my baseball teeth on the Cubbies in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field and on the South Side at the corner of 35th and Shields in Comiskey Park watching the White Sox.
Wrigley Field, of course, is the only one of the three still standing. Old Comiskey was replaced in 1991 by New Comiskey Park for a rather modest $167 ...
