Companies are outsourcing more supply chain functions because of the economic slowdown and the pressing need to enhance competitiveness, according to a new survey. But focusing solely on cost cutting can overshadow long-term strategic needs, which is counterproductive at a time when supply chains need to become more global and customer-focused, one executive said.
