The first edition of the Samuel Adams WorldBeat Music Fest ended up Saturday night at Clinton Square on the same note it had started on the night before:
Hot American jazz.
Puerto Rican tenor saxophonist David Sanchez led his five-piece band through a swinging bebop finale in front of a crowd of about 2,500 that seemed as diverse as the many styles of music offered throughout the two-day fest.
Sanchez was a cool improvisational cat, and the silky jazz was a solid ending to a worthy debut endeavor.
