Jun. 11--Move over, tobacco. There's a new crop in town.
Hyacinths.
Large Scale Biology Corp. announced Monday that it has formed a multimillion dollar alliance with Phylogix Inc., a Scarborough, Maine, biotech company.
Under the terms of the agreement, Large Scale Biology will grow the hyacinth plants outdoors in Daviess County and in its five local greenhouses. Then it will harvest and purify the seeds to extract a protein called FRIL.
