These two volumes are based on the first and second International Symposia on Service Life Prediction in Organic Coatings (the first was held in Breckenridge, CO, in 1997; the second, in Monterey, CA, in 1999). Service life prediction has sometimes been likened to the weather: everybody talks about it, but nobody can do anything about it.
