PCBs: HEALTHY CONCERN OR HYSTERIA?
RADNOR, Pa., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The federal government is forcing private industry to spend millions of dollars to eliminate the use of chemicals that have not been proven to cause anything more harmful than acne, according to an article in Chilton Co.'s Industrial Maintenance & Plant Operation (IMPO).
According to IMPO, industry is replacing these chemicals -- called PCBs -- in electrical equipment with compounds that haven't been shown to be any safer. In some instances, these replacement chemicals may actually be more harmful than PCBs, according to experts interviewed for the article.
