Factual study questions focus students' attention on the important elements of their textbooks. This brief report follows up earlier work in which we showed that most students completed our study question assignments and that noncompletion of study questions was related to poor performance on chapter quizzes. We examined three assumptions in that earlier work: that students would have little trouble finding correct answers, that our grading procedure would determine if students were doing an adequate job, and that completing study questions affected final grade separate from other course elements or general academic ability.
