ABIX via COMTEX) -- Surveys of dietitians employed in New South Wales (NSW) were conducted in 1984, 1991 and 2000. The survey for 2000 was sent to all hospitals in NSW that had over 50 beds, as well as smaller facilities where dietitians worked. The trends revealed by comparisons between the surveys indicate that there was a 48% increase in positions in the nine years to 2000. While most dietitians are employed in hospitals, the proportion employed outside this sector increased to 38%.
