EYE drops used to treat an eye pressure condition could delay and possibly prevent glaucoma, a leading cause of vision loss, new research suggests.
The eye condition, called ocular hypertension, causes elevated pressure within the eyeball and results when fluid flowing in and out of the eye drains too slowly. It can increase the risk of developing glaucoma.
Until now, doctors did not know whether treatment could delay or prevent glaucoma, according to the US National Eye Institute, which helped fund the study.
