COLUMBUS, Ga., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- John B. Amos, the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of American Family Corp. (AFC), (NYSE: AFL) and its principal subsidiary, American Family Life Assurance Co. (AFLAC), died today at age 66.

Paul S. Amos, a co-founder and former vice chairman, has assumed the position of chairman of the board. He served as president of AFLAC from 1977 until 1983.
